Olympics: NYT infographics. Respect.

Again during Olympic Games at some point something the New York Times does in terms of sport data infographics or content ideas catch my attention and inspire me and the team at deltatre to create new content formats and new products.

That is the way that SportTeller came to life.

This year for the Rio Games they did something really interesting for Swimming — let’s see what they have in the pipeline for the rest of the games.

Special features on Michael Phelps (we would love to show our SportTeller version of the 21 medals but need a volunteer client to use ti with the proper rights).

Quite a nice way to watch a swimming competition, it gives a sense of the race even if at 12x the speed.

I believe this should be a standard feature of every swimming result page, we should talk to FINA.

I ‘m only doubtful about what kind of data sits behind this, if real detailed tracking or it is done just by interpolation with existing split times.

Suggestion: I would slow down the last 50m so that you can better appreciate who wins and how, otherwise great job to MILES PEYTON and DEREK WATKINS.
