Guido has a very interesting background and is now the President of the San Francisco 49ers and CEO of Elevate Sports Ventures, which works to bring comprehensive business solutions to the sports and entertainment industry. He talks about helping Jerry Jones build AT&T Stadium (Dallas Cowboys) and how that changed the economics of sports forever. Then they talk about his decision work for the 49ers, the 49ers unique decision to expand their new stadium into different revenue generating areas, and how that experience led to Elevate Sports Ventures. - The Knowledge Project: Thriving in a Digital World. Guest Ben Thompson is founder of Stratechery, a subscription based newsletter on media and technology. The first 35 minutes features Thompson discussing the process of starting his blog and podcast. Then their conversation turns to some of Thompsons ideas on Facebook’s impact on the election, the disruption of brands through platforms [ebay and Airbnb] and social media advertising, and changes in the media landscape. - HBR Ideacast: 646: The Science Behind Sleep and High Performance. Guest Marc Effron is the author of 8 Steps to High Performance: Focus On What You Can Change (Ignore the Rest). His research led him to believe the most important factor was sleep. He discusses the number of hours the average person should get a night, the importance of quality over quantity, and how a 10-minute nap can make a big impact. He does a great job of covering all angles of the story, including the opioid/heroin connection, one citation that was used over 900 times to incorrectly portray opioids as non-addictive, and how young men from one small town county in Mexico imported a massive influx of black tar heroin and sold it like pizza delivery drivers.
