5 Websites With Good Use Of Typography

  1. ENCAPSULATION:

This is a website for a photography firm. The initial page is the image shown below. I love the way that they have chosen to use an overlay effect to encapsulate their identity into a box of type. The message that I take from this image is that they don’t just sell their services…but they are photography.

2. ISOLATION:

This website is a great example of using the idea of isolation with typography. The use of animation on the landing page of this website gives the user literally no other option but to look at the type that appears. It is dramatic and elegant, just like this artists work.

3. COLOUR AND CONTRAST:

This news website is consistent with its theme of using colour and contrast to grab the user’s attention. It uses animation to ignite interaction with the site and later uses different contrasts in colour at the end of articles to help the user continue browsing and using the site.

4. LINES:

I really enjoyed how this Graphic Designer went so literal with this imagery. Using every day desk items such as paper and sticky notes to create the notion of reaching the top of a mountain is simple and effective. The use of lines to draw the eye to the title works very well.

5. RULE OF THIRDS:

Here we have a very striking image that compliments the typography on this website beautifully. By using the rule of thirds, this photographer/videographer has managed to not only take a very interesting photo, but her choice of placement makes her name stand out as the only piece of information on the screen. It definitely made me want to see more, which was good because once I had read her name on the left my eyes naturally went to the hamburger menu on the right.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
