Hey.
So there’s this fun story that John Hunter — a Scottish surgeon in the 18th century — was dedicated to figuring out the difference between Syphilis and Gonorrhea. SO dedicated that he infected himself with the pus of a man who was infected with an STD.
Bold as Hunter was, it turned out that the patient was infected with both Syphilis and Gonorrhea and so Hunter’s efforts were in vain and ended up confusing the medical community for decades*
