Starting in May 2024, Gyeongbok Palace will host evening tours, offering quite an experience of its historic ambiance after dusk in the heart of Seoul.

This announcement came from the organizers on Monday.

The Cultural Heritage Administration has revealed the dates for this year’s spring evening tours — set for visitors from 8 May through 2 June.

Gyeongbok Palace, a jewel from the Joseon dynasty (1392–1910), traditionally welcomes visitors after hours each spring and fall.

This special opening allows guests to wander the grounds bathed in the soft glow of lights against the night sky.

Last season, the program drew an impressive crowd of around 274,000 people, as per the CHA’s records.

If you’re looking to explore the palace under the stars, make a note that the tours will take place from 7 pm to 9.30 pm, but be sure to arrive before 8.30 pm for the last admission.

Keep in mind that the palace won’t be open for night tours on Mondays, Tuesdays, and from 17 to 19 May.

And here’s some good news for international visitors — you’re exempt from the reservation requirement.
