In the realm of international education, a trend is emerging from the halls of Korean universities and vocational institutions.

A sluggish pace in refunding tuition fees to foreign students whose visa applications were denied is causing significant headaches.

In some cases, the wait for a refund has stretched to over a year, leaving many students in limbo.

Many of these students, who are living abroad during the application process, find themselves in a bit of a pickle, with no option but to twiddle their thumbs and wait for their refunds.

An article from the JoongAng Ilbo shed light on the experiences of 55 Vietnamese students who applied to an art school in Jeonju, North Jeolla, from March to June 2022.
