Just because there are bigger issues in the world (and there always will be) doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fix the ones that are right on our doorstep. It’s not an excuse to let things slide.

My takeaway from the article was more about another company where white men talk about diversity while they run a company from the top down, with no numbers to support their efforts, and no checks or balances in place to ensure their users aren’t offended (no matter how silly or sensitive it might feel to you).

Gender equality and diversity are huge issues in a lot of workplaces. You may have felt out of place traveling or living in another country (which, might I add, is a privilege in itself) but imagine feeling that way every day in your own office. In a country where you grew up. And were raised to thrive in.

Let’s just support each other in making the world a little bit of a better place. And maybe that means no blackface on a popular app.
