North, South, East, and West

As the summer sun shines bright, Center on Halsted continues to extend our geographic reach for the LGBTQ community of Chicagoland. We persist with building the “yellow brick road” to connect people from the north, south, east, and west and collaborating with other organizations and individuals to increase racial and gender equity and inclusion. There is no place like home and our home goes far beyond the four walls of 3656 N. Halsted.

During June, we all eased on down the road together, arm in arm, on the Center’s “Come out, come out, whoever you are!” Pride float.

“When I think of home I think of a place where there’s love overflowing ….”
— Charlie Smalls, Music Composer and Lyricist, The Wiz

We are reaching out to the north, south, east, and west…

Coming in August, Center on Halsted is marching along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in the Bud Billiken Parade and again we will be at Oakwood Beach tabling at Fahrenheit Chicago for a weekend of LGBTQ Pride events on the south side. The Center is hosting Transgender and Family Programs with Trans book authors, LGBTQ parents, and a Congressman.

During the Latinx Heritage Celebration September 15 through October 15, we’re excited to showcase a number of events celebrating Latinx art, culture, and conversation. The Center will be hosting integrated dance concerts and movement workshops for youth, adults, and families. In addition, we will be having the annual WERQ Job Fair/Hire Trans with Windy City Times for LGBTQ individuals from the north, south, east and west communities of Chicagoland.

Racial and gender equity and inclusion are integral to all we do at Center on Halsted homes. All are welcome.
