Would be nice to see benchmarks where gaming pc is also running other background cpu based tasks as well.

Would love to see pagespeed insights and web.dev also show and measure benefits of deploying PWA/service worker caching. Right now that can’t be measured on 1st test runs and need a 2nd test run with storage cache intact. Theh Chrome Audit version of Lighthouse report has support for either clearing or keeping storage cache intact.

Nice article. I use ngx_brotli module source compiled for my Centmin Mod LEMP stack as well and it definitely reduces page size compared to gzip. Google PlayStore uses Brotli to save petabytes of bandwidth per day !

For static brotli compression, I also wrote a script brotli.sh which can point a directory to, to mass brotli…

Love seeing what folks do with my Centmin Mod LEMP stack project and love how you rolled it into a Linode StackScript. Thanks for heads up on Yarn too looks very useful and something to improve speed and efficiency is always my cup of tea and may end up integrated into Centmin Mod :)

You should also test with additional http headers added as Caddy’s performance drops further as you add more http headers to the requests. Did some tests at https://forum.caddyserver.com/t/any-performance-overhead-as-you-add-more-headers-under-http-2/403/5

Chrome might not be only browser requiring ALPN protocol for HTTP/2. Firefox may do the same too https://bug98304.bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1248198

For CentOS, my Centmin Mod LEMP stack’s Nginx has been HTTP/2 + OpenSSL 1.0.2+, LibreSSL 2.4 and now OpenSSL 1.1.0 ready for a while now :)

Don’t forget the other reason Nginx is popular is it’s extensibility with 3rd party Nginx modules https://www.nginx.com/resources/wiki/modules/ some provided by 3rd parties have been very useful i.e. OpenResty Nginx modules and Cloudflare and Google’s own contributed Nginx modules like Lua Nginx and Nginx Brotli & ngx_pagespeed modules.
