No, I’m sorry, that time has passed. High School is for preparing kids to either go on to college, or realize that their future lies somewhere other than college, like a trade school or similar institution.

What needs to happen is how we view people who do end up going to a trade school not as a failure, but as following a different path. And we need to get parents involved in education. Trust me, if it wasn’t for my father, I wouldn’t have an M.S. and my sister wouldn’t have her Ph.D. Nothing against my mom, but she wasn’t raised with education being high on the priority list of life achievements. We need to instill in parents that it’s vital that their children be educated, education starts in the home.
