Thank you for your kind words, Ryan. The artery healed by itself. The reason why the stroke occurred was the fact that the internal swelling started to decrease, opening up the artery for the blood clot to proceed to the brain. From then, the artery started to recover on its own — so no surgery needed.
As you may have experienced yourself, recovery has ups and downs. My situation has improved greatly, but I have learned that I will always have to actively work on performing “normally” — mainly due to my now severely bad memory and the energy management that comes with brain damage. Hitting walls is something I am used to by now. I may write a follow-up blog post at some point ;-)
