Advertising the business is one of the major plays that helps in maintaining and success of the business. There are many ways to do it, some do it formally circulating it on social media or some do it by traditional marketing whereas there are also some marketing that is done undercover.

In this blog, I will share about stealth marketing and its different ways of marketing in the business.

What is Stealth Marketing?

Stealth marketing is a form of advertising that promotes a product or service in a disguised way. It creates a buzz without being overtly promoting them. This type of marketing is marketing to feel like a natural part of the customer’s environment rather than a forced advertisement.

It is also known as Undercover marketing or Buzz marketing. This low-budget marketing strategy is especially effective for small business owners.

Benefits of Stealth Marketing

  1. Reach to Wider Audience

Using this type of strategy increases your brand’s reach as it unknowingly involves the public to interact with the products. It is spread through word of mouth or with any controversy within the reach of the audience.

2. Create a Pre-Launch Buzz

Creating a buzz makes the product the talk of the town within all media. As this is the best strategy to get the product viral, it increases the sales chances even before launching the product.

3. Cost Effective

As it is an undercover marketing strategy, advertising the products doesn’t require much cost. Likewise, traditional marketing requires a cost on good location, studio, background, etc.

Ways to use Stealth Marketing

Product Placement

Product Placement is placing the product unknowingly in any form of marketing. For example, the team advertised McDonald’s in Chak De India, whereas, in Veere D Wedding, Kareena Kapoor Khan advertises Uber. This is great for big business owners whereas for small business owners, social media influencers post pictures with products, include them in vlogs or casually place brands while interacting with the audience.

Create Buzz

As this is a form of marketing, it is important for the business owners to reach the product as much audience as possible. It can be done by finding the right kind of business person, collaborating with them and promoting your business.

Creating a Controversy

Controversy is the key factor in the undercover marketing. It is one of the advertising effects that catches the attention of the audience fast. But always remember, it should not be a negative controversy.

Hidden Product Promotion

Hiding a product strategically in marketing is the new form of undercover advertising. For example, Colgate uses this type of advertising by adding a wooden shape brush under an ice cream.

Social Validation

Social Validation is also important in incentivising customers by giving positive reviews on the products to existing customers. Give them coupons, and gifts and even make them brand ambassadors so that they also feel validated.
