Welcome to the Nixon Era of the 21st Century…

President Donald Trump’s administration is hanging on by a thread. There is now a cumulation of evidence that has become public, to justify impeachment proceedings. Just a few hours ago, the New York Times released a story on President Trump asking James Comey to “please let this go”. Referring to the FBI’s investigation on Trump and Russian collusion.

What is rather interesting is that Donald Trump has been under investigation for months now, about possible collusion with Russia, but what has now become the central focus of controversy is that there is substantial evidence indicating Donald Trump attempted to derail the FBI investigation.

In the same New York Times article, the author Michael Schmidt says,

“The existence of Mr. Trump’s request is the clearest evidence that the president has tried to directly influence the Justice Department and F.B.I. investigation into links between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia.”

Of course the events of the past week Climaxed with the firing of the chief investigator, Director James Comey. There is a possibility Donald Trump and Russia never colluded (doubt it), but if you entertain that idea for a second, you can still point to Donald Trump’s attempt to derail the FBI investigation as justification to impeach the President.

We are witnessing the beginnings of Republicans in Congress distancing themselves from the President. Today, Republicans have mostly remained silent in their defense of the President. Trump is becoming far too toxic, and midterms are right around the corner. If “party” and “partisanship” is put aside for political survival… Then what will follow is a steady stream of Republicans joining Democrats calling for the removal of the President. Democrats have to be careful not to look like they are exploiting this crisis, stop waving their partisan flag, and embrace Republicans who seek to hold the President accountable…
