What did you do this past week?

This past week, our group worked on cleaning up a few last things that our TA had left as feedback from our last phase. This included cleaning up some of our connection cards, fixing our second form of media, and correcting some blank images. We also finished the three visualizations for our group’s data.

What’s in your way?

Currently, what’s in our way is the Pecha Kucha presentation that we need to upload to YouTube. We started our slides, but not all of them have been completed. We also need to finish the three visualizations for our developer group.

What will you do next week?

Next week, we plan on finishing up our Pecha Kucha slides so that we can do our voiceovers and edit the YouTube video. We also plan on hosting a short meeting to discuss what we want to say in our in-person presentation just so everyone is on the same page when it comes to that.

What did you think of Paper #13? What Happens to Us Does Not Happen to Most of You.

I thought this paper was a very good read. It allowed me to hear from multiple perspectives when it comes to the tech community. I was able to recognize where change must be made in order to move towards a more equitable and inclusive community.

What did you think of refactoring and the ethics lectures? (This question will vary, week to week.)

I thought the ethics lectures were very informative. I appreciated the switch from coding to more human-centered topics like ethics. In a world where unethical decisions are made every day, everyone must have talks like we had at some point in their career.

What made you happy this week?

Something that made me happy this week was winning our Intramural flag football game. The win placed us in the semi-finals, so that will be fun.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week is the UT Registration Plugin on Chrome. It is well-known, but as a rising senior, I am realizing how fortunate we are to have such a cool tool to help us navigate UT’s horrible registration system.
