When I read your title, I expected a summary of how the media of the time, especially the British media, reflected on the situation. It would have interested me.

I saw the Hour, it is a great series who really, as you say, gives a taste of the zeitgeist.
I believe the Suez Crise is little thematised nowadays. I never completely understood it until lately. This is why such series, but also books and movies are so important to share. The put things into a new perspective and provide explanations that schools often fail to give.
