Broken Child

A newborn baby boy

was placed within my arms.

The doctor exclaimed, “He’s healthy!”

easing all my maternal alarms.

He developed very slowly.

“I don’t know why,” the doctor said.

Still life went on as normal,

but worry filled my head.
