Chapter XVII: A Curse for Girls

Why is there a piece of cloth here? thought John. The nuclear power plant has been abandoned for years.

John grabbed it and examined it closely. The cloth was velvet and obviously was very old, at least from decades ago. Also it had patterns that most likely were for women’s dress.

“Hey! Peeps!” John shouted, then he shared his observations about its oldness and patterns with others.

“This piece of cloth is unusual. It might hide something we don’t know — that will help us.” said John.

“Sure?” asked Chrishie.

“Yes, I’m sure! This cloth is important.” John confirmed. He put that piece of cloth in his pocket.

“Fine.” Chrishie shrugged his shoulders. “By the way, I wonder if the monster is still out there.”

“It doesn’t seem like it. I just peeked when I grabbed that piece of cloth from outside.” said John.

“However, there is a 13.2754% chance that the monster is still here. If he is, he should be around either the south gate or the west gate.” John looked at the map in his hand and pointed to those two gates.

“Why?” asked TruEthan.

“Because we came in from the chimney that was on the north side of the building, and the east side is a lake, remember? We saw that when we were looking out on the deck.” John explained.

“Ok, then maybe we should exit from the north gate?” Chrishie turned to Sharo looking for his advice because Sharo was very visionary and good in big pictures. Sharo agreed.

“Then let’s go!” said Bri-Bri. He was carefree as usual.

They headed to the north gate. When they came outside, it was all clear, no sign of the monster, except for the dismantled pieces of the deck from yesterday.

They made it to leave the building safely. They walked for a while and found themselves coming to the front of a jungle. There was a wood sign. It said:

CAUTIOUS!!! DO NOT GO IN THE POWER PLANT OF ZINX, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A GIRL! YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR VOICE BECAUSE OF A CURSE! THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES BEFORE! THERE IS A TEMPORARY CURE THAT YOU CAN REGAIN YOUR VOICE FOR TWO HOURS — EAT A VIOLET FLOWER.”

“A curse….that’s why.” said Chrishie.

Adiale’s eyes were wide open and then mouthed something. Armi looked at her closely and said:

“I think Adiale is asking, where can we find flowers of violet?”
