“Many voices might say: ignore the haters, stay in your lane, focus on those who are attracted to you and move on.”
Krishen…..I think there are quite a few that will do this. They didn’t go on Grindr (or other hook-up apps) to be someone’s conscience. They don’t feel they should have to explain to someone how the world is suppose to be.
But, I can imagine how POC’s can feel when they have to deal with this ignorance EVERY day. It probably starts to wear on their good humor. Sooner or later, the day will come, and their anger will hit the boiling point. Then, the next racist who posts online…they let them have it!
Myself, I don’t care what ethnic group you are…all are welcome. My only things about someone is:
- not into over-weight.
- not into overtly femmy.
That would probably piss some folks off. But, I can’t lie to myself. I can’t get turned on by a naked, fat person. Doesn’t have to be a body-builder, but can’t be a killer whale. Can’t lie…someone that reminds me of a woman will turn me off quick. I have less-than-masculine, and chubby friends, but I would never date them. If I wanted to date a woman, I would be str8.
Mind you, I live in the “real world”. I know, being 55, their will be guys who say I am “too old” for them to date. Understandable…when I was younger, I also kept it “not younger than/older than” in my mind. I just try to keep in mind that we are all flawed human beings. I try to keep myself from thinking I am “better than” any other gay men out there. I just wish others would do the same.
