Thanks for writing this. I don’t listen to as much metal these days as I used to. Quality metal is hard to find because the scope of music has changed so much with EDM influences everywhere. Not that I’m complaining, I like my share of EDM and I like it when a hard rock/metal band successfully infuses it into what they do (KoRn!!!!)

It’s true that if you look out at the crowd and a metal show, you will most definitely see a sea of white. There isn’t enough diversity in the metal community. Part of that is culture, and part of that culture is exactly what you’re talking about. It makes me wonder, if we could all get over ourselves and just love each other (abolish racism), how communities like these would look.

I hope that one day you will be able to go to any metal (or otherwise) show and hot have to have those feelings. I doubt that will happen in our lifetime, but I have hope for the future.
