EWU Campus

BAD: Cafeteria bench layout

These benches, while comfortable to sit in, can be a pain to get into. The current setup in the EWU cafeteria has the benches set slam up next to a column and a seemly pointless entryway. Additionally, all other benches are set back to back, which leaves one open side all the way at the end, and a half-of-a-person sized whole on the other. This makes it conundrum for anyone who needs to sit on the far side of the bench. Climb over the bench to the far side? Walk all the way around? Squeeze through the small gap? Those are your options. Ignoring the odd entryway/column, this problem could easily be solved by shifting some benches and opening a gap for people to enter though between the long row on benches.

GOOD: My standing desk

Supplied to me by my on-campus student web designer/developer job is this standing desk. The desk while bulky in appearance, it adds to it’s sturdiness. It doesn’t shake or wobble unless you really try! The height of the desk is easily adjusted by small levers you pull on inside of the grip holes on either side. These grips allow you to keep a firm hold on the desk when you’re adjusting. Also as an added bonus, the desk includes Velcro tie downs for you to manage your cables cables.
