ChainLayer becomes a Chainlink Node Operator
We are proud to announce that Chainlayer will be joining the Chainlink ecosystem as a node operator! We look forward to a long and healthy collaboration, and we invite Chainlinks to run on our node.
About ChainLayer
We at ChainLayer have believed in decentralisation since 2012. The founders of ChainLayer found each other when the first ASIC miners hit the market and have worked together across various ventures ever since. As of 2018, the ChainLayer founders turned their attention to blockchain full time, they quit their jobs and built out staking as a service.
We decided to focus on staking as a service given our prior (corporate) experience running secure hardware setups with high availability, HSMs, and mining hardware. We launched first with Tezos, later on Cosmos, and with more still to come (e.g. Polkadot, Wanchain and Cardano).
Our Architecture
We operate most of our servers from two locally sourced Datacenters. Additionally, we deploy a number of nodes from cloud providers like AWS, Upcloud and DigitalOcean. Where possible we protect our setups with HSMs (on the local Datacenters). Physical firewalls ensure only connectivity where we want it and physical access to the datacenter is protected with multiple layers of access security. More on architecture in our next article.
Why Chainlink
One of the concepts we believe in deeply is interoperability and the real-life applications of blockchain technology. A blockchain can have a lot of functionality, but if there are no users, it doesn’t work. In our view, two things are needed in the near future to gain more blockchain adoption:
- Interoperability: the possibility to have different blockchains interact with each other
- Oracles: to connect real-world data to smart contracts
For the first, we are validators (or will be validators) on all major networks in the interoperability scene. For the second we didn’t have any solutions until we learned about Chainlink. We quickly realised that Chainlink was the decentralized oracle solution we were looking for to bring blockchain technology forward. And so a new Node Operator was born.
These are the jobs currently available on our oracle 0xF5a3d443FccD7eE567000E43B23b0e98d96445CE:
About Chainlink
Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network that enables smart contracts to securely access off-chain data feeds, web APIs, and traditional bank payments. Chainlink is consistently selected as one of the top blockchain technologies by leading independent research firms such as Gartner. It is well known for providing highly secure and reliable oracles to large enterprises (SWIFT and Google) and leading smart contract development teams.
What’s next
In the coming months, we will be adding a few of our own Chainlinks to the ecosystem and expand with other Chainlinks. We will also start running a working Oracle on Wanchain.
