Kali Linux In VMware Workstation
Here we will see how to install Kali Linux in VMware
Firstly we will have to install VMware
Installation of VMware
Step 1
Download VMware workstation from the following link
Step 2
After that open the .exe file downloaded and follow the steps
Click on Next to continue installation
Step 3
Here you will be able to read all the terms and conditions. Read them, mark the checkbox and select next.
Step 4
The VMware installation’s location will be displayed. If you don’t have a good reason to change the location, leave it and carry on.
Step 5
Additional settings for installation will be there. Follow them and continue
Step 6
We are now ready for installation click on install
Step 7
We have now successfully installed VMware on our system.
Click on Finish
So far now we have completed installation of VMware workstation
Now we will download and install Kali Linux
Installing Kali Linux
Follow the link for downloading Kali Linux
Select download for VMware option
Step 1
Open VMware workstation and select Create a new virtual machine
Step 2
You will see new Virtual machine Wizard dialog box. Click Next.
Step 3
Select the installation media or source where you have downloaded Kali Linux in previous step.
Step 4
Here we have to select the Guest operating system and version
We had done the same in the previous blog while installing Kali Linux in Virtual Box
Step 5
Here provide any name to the Kali machine and leave the installation location default if you don't have a good reason to change it
Step 6
Allocating memory to our Virtual Kali Machine
Allocate the disk space according to your system specifications
Step 7
We’re almost ready to install Kali Machine, but first let’s adjust the RAM and cores allocated to our machine by clicking on configure hardware.
Step 8
Now allocate RAM, Cores to our machine according to your requirements.
Step 9
Click on Display to change the display settings. Check Accelerated 3D Graphics, Use host settings for monitor.
Step 10
Click on OK and Finish to start the installation process
Step 11
Now click on Play virtual machine to start the further installation process.
So we have successfully installed Kali Linux in VMware and are left with setting up of Kali Linux just like any other operating system
The rest of the steps are the same as when we Installed Kali Linux in Virtual Box previously.
Complete all of the procedures in the Kali Linux Setup section of the above blog and you are done with Kali Linux installation in VMware
