Cultivating light is the underlying principle of everything. I know, I know. Weird, no one agrees…the world is full of things to do and be and cultivating light is impractical, silly and ‘weird’. Except that is it not. So let me share a tiny story if you would indulge a minute or three. (and I know you will, Gail, because we resonate on this one)
My first words were “tee ite” my tiny finger pointed at a lamp or the sun. The story varied with my Mum’s telling of it so I don’t really know. Most infants say the equivalent of Mama or Papa… but those were always the light for me. That is how I have spent this life. Cultivating light.
So, no, I don’t think it’s weird. Lots of people do. I know, with the certainty of many lifetimes lived, many worlds experienced, that light is the foundation of everything. That doesn’t matter to most. That’s ok! We are each here to experience what we’ve chosen to experience in the way that we’ve chosen to experience it. It’s called learning.
Most of us pay for the ticket and ignore the forgetting clause that lets us ignore everything but the ride we bought the ticket for.
And yes, when I began yoga in this life I was put off a bit by ritual… (kirtans are lovely) until I could see the light it nurtures. Maybe in a different way than westerners are used to or even want to know about. We are conditioned to and inherit our predispositions for learning.
We each find our own way.
Bottom line? It isn’t weird, Gail. GO FOR IT! No matter what anyone else or even you think. when you set that intention, you’re literally halfway home.
So much love to you!
