In my experience, amenities and design are essential to running a successful Airbnb. People want to feel welcomed, valued, and comfortable in your space.

When my husband and I shop for our Airbnbs, we look for a few things:

  • Quality
  • Reasonable Price
  • Style
  • Durability
  • Cleanability

These are a few staples we love to use:

Zinus Wooden Bedframe

We love using a Boho style in our Airbnbs because it feels fresh and alive. In a Boho look, you want to use primarily natural wood, preferably with lighter grains. This bedframe suits our needs perfectly. Because it’s solid wood, it’s also durable.

Here is an image of how it looks in our Airbnb:

White Boho Duvet Cover

I do the cleaning for the rooms we rent out in our own home, and let me tell you, if you clean an Airbnb, you know the bedding will often be the dirtiest. I’ve seen brown, yellow, black, and red stains on bedding and have been at a loss. What exactly are people doing in these beds? Luckily, most guests are pretty clean, but every once in a while, your bedding will be destroyed.

One step that helps alleviate this issue is purchasing white bedding and towels. This way, you can bleach when necessary and keep the bedding looking fresh. This duvet cover is light, soft, and has textured details, adding to the Boho look. We’ve started putting this duvet cover in all of our Airbnbs because we love it so much. If you look at the photo of our Airbnb displaying the wooden bedframe, you’ll see the duvet cover is on the bed.

Round Wooden Coffee Table Set of 2

As I mentioned, we prefer using a variety of natural wood in our properties to bring liveliness and crispness to a Boho design. The boho look generally uses a lot of textures to add variety to the aesthetic. I love these coffee tables because they have a ribbed surface and a beautiful light wood grain. However, if you purchase these, I recommend putting a decorative tray on them for cups because of the ribbed surface. Here is a photo of how they look in one of our Airbnbs:

Set of Two Rattan Nightstands

Finding a good quality nightstand that is reasonably priced can be challenging. We like this one because of the rattan look and the drawer. In addition, it’s decently sturdy without being expensive. We like to find foundational pieces like this that we can use in every bedroom and then differentiate the rooms through the decor.

Full-Length Mirror

I recommend having at least one full-length mirror in your Airbnb or short-term rental. Mirrors help a room feel more spacious and dynamic while providing functional value. We like this mirror because of the gold framing and because it doesn’t have to be mounted on a door. You can see how it looks in the first picture of our Airbnb in this article.

Makeup Towels

While we use white body and hand towels (bleachable), we like to use these black makeup towels for a washcloth. This way, if a guest is wearing foundation or other makeup, they go for this towel rather than cleaning their face with a hand or body towel. They also add a sense of luxury, making them practical and appealing. When we have a new guest, we like to fold the body towel like a swan and the makeup towel like a cylinder:

Pillow Protectors

Cleanliness is a priority for us and most guests. Pillow protectors are a simple way to keep your bed pillows in mint condition and are cheaper to replace if stained. You can wash and air dry these protectors; they are also water-proof to protect your pillows against spills or other liquid substances.

Mattress Protector

Again, cleanliness is vital in running a successful Airbnb. You also want to avoid unnecessary costs; it’s better to take the extra step to protect your furniture and household items than replace them. These waterproof mattress protectors help guard your mattress from unwanted stains or insects. Bedding often takes the biggest hit in cleanliness, so it is pertinent that you protect your mattresses. These are also stretchy, so they are a cinch to put on your mattress.

These are just a few of our favorite items that we consistently go back to buy. We currently have seven listings across five different properties, so we have tried many different products. I hope this helps you out! Good luck on your short-term rental journey!
