So… I’m in the minuscule minority of people not completely obsessed with Pokemon GO, but I wholeheartedly agree with what you mentioned in the intro paragraphs — it’s positively impacting the way we interact with others. I remember reading that the game is even helping people with depression get out of the house. It’s honestly kind of amazing to see total strangers come up to us and tell us there’s a Polywhirl a couple blocks away.

And you have to be impressed at the enterprising folks capitalizing off Pokemon GO’s popularity. This was super impressive list (I’ve only heard of the PokeDates, PokeCrew, and PokeGone). I remember reading about someone trying to start an “Uber for Pokemon Go”…

Curious to hear what everyone thinks accounts for the popularity of Pokemon Go. Ingress, Niantic’s other AR game, has many of the same game elements as PoGo — apparently this is what the cool kids are calling it — but didn’t achieve nearly as much popularity. I personally think building off the nostalgia of a wildly popular brand has a lot to do with it.
