This week we talked about emotions in the workplace. Emotional labor can be one of the toughest things to experience in a career or whatever you’re doing. It takes the most out of you and causes a lot of stress. Stressors cause burnout which will result in the employee quitting their job. Maslach’s 3 dimensions of burnout are emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and decreased personal accomplishment. Once a person reaches decreased personal accomplishment they will no longer feel good about what they are doing and it will have to purpose because they are no longer feeling reward.
Turnover in a company is one major thing organizations do not want, they want to sustain happy employees who enjoy what they are doing and avoid burnout alltogether. The three types of coping are problem centered coping, appraisal centered coping, and emotion centered coping. Problem centered coping is to me the best way to deal with things because you are directly dealing with the problem and it seems the most effective way to handle the problem.
