Unfortunately there are still a lot of communities in developing countries that have no access to anything greater than 2G or even 3G. When developing modern solutions for rural areas such as banking access or supply chain updates, SMS is the only option with available API solutions in the back end.

Thanks! This was a great article and has helped me get a better understanding of blockchains. I feel like in the first part of your article up until your NYTimes example, if you replace blockchains with Artificial Intelligence, you’ve got another good case study. 😝
