It’s our favourite sign-off, we preach it, and we practice it. Keeping it handsome does go a little further than just a regular fix up at the barbers though. Your get-up is your step-up to getting your rep-up and luckily for you, your favourite barbers are here to tell you how.

Start with the Face

It’s human nature to look at faces. Your face is the feature by which you’re identified unless you have three legs or a gate to your walk that gets you main roles in zombie films. With this in mind, keeping it handsome should start somewhere around the top of the neck.

Maintenance of your face should happen twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening before bed. At the bare minimum, you should be washing. Moisturising, especially if you suffer dry skin, is definitely a good habit to get into. Whether you do that once or twice a day is going to be skin-dependent, but it should 100% be happening at some point.

Further to a clean routine, the occasional face mask or facial at the barbers will help clear your pores. Keeping your face vibrant and working towards a healthier and youthful-looking skin, monthly masks at a minimum get a thumbs up from us.

The main places to focus on with a face, are your eyes and your teeth. Eye contact is an essential part of our social structure, and a nice natural smile lets everyone know you’re not a murderer.

Clean white teeth maketh the man. They’re usually the first thing most women pick-up on (wink wink, nudge nudge). If you find brushing is letting the tooth team down, first try a whitening toothpaste, and if you’re still struggling, over-the-counter whiteners will come in handy.

As for your eyes, healthy sleeping habits promote a healthy twinkle and less dark circles. For the skin around the eyes, take extra care with that moisturiser, the dreaded crow’s feet are a dead giveaway of your true age.

Dress for Convenience

You don’t need to don a suit 24/7 to be the man around town. I mean, they’re inconvenient in the gym, and getting Friday night pizza all over the pants is doing your wallet no favours. Dressing to impress is great, but dressing for the occasion and comfort is way more important.

Part of keeping it handsome is keeping it confident. If you can carry yourself confidently in casuals, you don’t need to be captain dapper every day of the week. Being comfortable creates confidence. If it's a black-tie, go all out. Meeting the lads for a meal, drop the waistcoat and get a red flannel shirt out (it’ll cover up the ketchup stains).

Eat Well, Eat Healthily, Exercise Regularly

A well-balanced diet will crush when it comes to keeping it handsome. Your diet plays a major role in everything about your operating system. It’ll keep you healthy in body and mind, and a healthy mind is just as important in handsomeness as your skin is.

Whilst that’s all good and well, enjoying yourself is also part of a healthy mind. That’s why we have cheat days. Don’t let your ego get in the way of having a good time. Being happy in yourself is the key, and if that means double cheeseburgers, so be it.

Get a Proper Haircut

I didn’t want to say it, because it’s like a shameless plug for business. But a proper haircut, that’s well-maintained rounds off your image perfectly. Barbers and stylists will tell you what works well for your face, and carrying that look out the barbershop keeps you as handsome as your mum always told confirmed you were.

Anyway, it wasn’t a shameless plug. We offer much more than just haircuts, check out ‘The Fix’, for all your handsome needs. (that is how you shamelessly plug).
