  1. If he actually had an interesting perspective about something other than sports, then I would be interested. To hear the same take on how the rich cause all of our problems that has been around since at least 2008 in this iteration is just mind-numbing.
  2. https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-baumann-58775084 That appears to be the linkedin of someone who has been a sportswriter for the majority of his adult life. If he also enjoys writing about other things, that is lovely, but I’d rather hear his best work.
  3. Most websites that stick to just sports are much more news-oriented than this one, with little actual analysis. They, much like this story’s take on capitalism, are boring. Read a few articles here (http://grantland.com/the-triangle/), and I think you will start to see a stark difference in the style of writing between Grantland in 2015 and The Ringer now. I’m aware that a lot of the best Grantland writers stayed on at ESPN, which probably made it harder to find writers for The Ringer, but I still like this site can do better than this article. Also, there is already an expansive pop culture, etc portion of this website that I feel like stories like this would be better suited for at least.
  4. If those are the actual statistics (I don’t know where to find them), then that does not give me much hope for this site improving to my liking. Also, just to note, I said that I came here just for sports, not that everyone else did. I just don’t like having an interesting sports article turn into a poorly executed take on the failings of capitalism.
