Merlin got acquired!
I’m happy to announce that two days ago Merlin Onboarding, Inc (the company I founded over three years ago that created Merlin Guides & Haystack) was acquired by NewtonX.
NewtonX is a Series A company that focuses on bringing those that need knowledge and the experts that hold it together. For instance:
Let’s say you worked at GE and needed an expert in Artificial Intelligence for rocket production, right now if there wasn’t someone at the company or in your network you’d be at a loss. Instead, NewtonX helps you find the ideal expert(s) across any geography, and either books you time with them or gets them to fill out a survey. All in a third of the time it takes through other methods.
With the search knowhow from Haystack and the internal training & automation developed at Merlin Guides, it was the ideal fit for the company and technology. I’ve been speaking with the team for a few months (these things take time), and I’m so impressed with everything they have achieved in such a short time.
I’m looking forward to seeing the technology that myself and my old team have built being put to use at the scale that NewtonX has.
For me, I will be joining as their Head of Product, helping to enhance both the existing projects and also start a few new ones as well. I’m looking forward to the challenge of taking a company from Series A to B (and everything that goes along with that). There is plenty to learn, especially from the fantastic team there and I’m excited to see (and hopefully improve) where we are going.
It has been quite a ride to get here let me tell you! I will share more details about how acquisitions happen, the learnings I have and why we decided NewtonX was the right exit for us in the future.
If you are in New York, I’ll be hosting celebratory drinks in early October so send me a message for an invite!
Thanks to everyone that has supported me in the journey, especially my girlfriend (thanks for putting up with me working from home!), my friends (near and far), my old team (Ayla, Tomer & Luis), Expa (my investor), SLP (who taught me everything I was going to do wrong), StoryVentures (who introduced me to them) and of course my new employer NewtonX!
