Given that Ibaka was recently traded for and the trade was questionable (given it was seen as a potential rental) than it makes sense to take the trades in their totality. Plus sunk costs assumes rationality in decision making and in criticism. Sports decisions and the criticism/commentary that follows is rarely rationale, nor should it necessarily be (though I and some would argue that sunk cost isnt entirely irrational).
