Nice piece Lissa. Metformin is derived from galegine, a natural product from the plant Galega officinalis (also known as goat’s rue), has been used in herbal medicine in medieval Europe. Studies have shown metformin increase longevity in nematodes. Although its mechanism of action is still unclear, there are multiple sites of action and anti-inflammation is one of its actions that may contribute anti-aging.
