The Dash
As I sat at my grandmothers funeral, I listened as people talked about her life, the good, funny, and stern parts about her, she was a wonderful woman that I love and will miss. I began to look at her obituary something caught my attention, it read Sept 10, 1928 — June 29, 2017. It was the dash mark in between her birth and death date that leaped off the page at me! She live almost 89 years which is a pretty long life, but what hit me was the dash mark which was the life she lived. I began to question, did she live life to her fullest potential? Did she accomplish her goals and dreams? Was there something she wish she would've done but never did? Then I thought about my life, am I living life to my fullest potential? What about You?
My favorite day on the calendar is October 26, 1971 Why? Its my birthday, the day I was born.
One of the greatest gifts God has given to this earth is You, yes, the day that you were born was the day that this earth became different because you were now here and God has a purpose and destiny just for you.
When I first seen my children born all I could see was little people full of life, potential, hopes, dreams, love, innocence, all bundled up inside these beautiful God given creations with full lives ahead of them.
As parents you want them to stay that way forever but the reality is, they get older and they have to walk this thing out called Life and unfortunately a lot of things don’t work out the way we pictured it in our minds. For some, life has thrown some devastating obstacles at you which has caused your entire being to become so damaged that you threw in the towel and quit going after your dreams.
The real deal is a lot of our situations have come from some poor decisions that we made in our lives and now were living out the aftermath of it. I know I made a lot of poor choices in my life!
Well the good news is you may have been knocked down but you’re not knocked out and its time to Get up and get back in the fight.

In John chapter 5 they’re is a story of a paralyzed man who laid by the pool of Bethesda for 38 years waiting to be healed, being that the angels only came once a year at a certain time to stir the waters and the one who makes it in first was healed. The bible says Jesus came walking by and noticed the man had been in that condition a long time. This man is a modern day picture of those who have been hurt, rejected, wounded, hopeless, emotionally distraught caused from things like divorce, physical & sexual abuse, church hurt, ( just to name a few) that has caused you to be emotionally, Spiritually, or Psychologically paralyzed.
Jesus asked him do you want to be made well? The man’s response was mind blowing. Because his life has had so many disappointments, he was programmed to accept negative and didn’t know how to receive positive.
He said I don’t have anybody to put me in. Well Jesus wasn’t asking him to trust in anybody else He asked him do you want me to Heal you, to believe in Him! So he said ( in my words) its your turn now Get up and Go after your dreams, its not over. Friends Jeremiah 29:11 says for I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and give you good success. Just because your down now doesn’t mean its over, its the opportunity to begin again! You only have one life to live take advantage of it and do something with your Dash!
My prayer for you is that God will heal everything in your life that has paralyzed you so that you will get up with new life, hope, dreams, peace and joy!
