Just a quick thought on this point: being an adherent of Christianity — or of any religious tradition for that matter — would not seem to entail being against the gods of other religions: it would merely involve saying that other religions have an incomplete or misperceived view of the divine. By understanding religions as interpretations of a universal experience of the divine, inter-religious dialogue is very much possible. This doesn’t mean, of course, that there aren’t interpretations that have better explanatory power or accord more with our knowledge of the world. What it does mean is that religions are not necessarily pitted against each other in such a headlong way. Yahweh and Christ for example, can’t really be pitted against each other, since Christ prays to the God of the Hebrew Scriptures.
