Kids Out and About.

This week we’re talking about children’s activity centre’s which, I think you will agree, are in short supply in Banbury.

I’ve asked you to share your favourites so I thought I would share a new find, Jungle Town.

Ok, so admitedly it isn’t in Banbury and is in Stratford upon Avon but it’s a quick drive up the motorway or take the beautiful scenic route and for little ones it is absolutely worth a visit.

Nestled at the back of Stratford Garden Centre you could easily miss the little wooden hut because there is just so much to look at in the Garden Centre (I’ll get onto this later).

The idea is a new play experience and as such they have a little doctors surgery, building site, hair dressers, cafe, food shop, picnic house and emergency services den with vintage sit in cars. Each area, albeit small is perfectly set up for your little one to get dressed up and act out being a doctor/nurse, hairdresser, builder, fireman. They’ve thought of everything to make each little area as real as possible.

For babies, there are a couple of baby chairs and mats within the seating area so you can keep them entertained as well.

I took my 5 year old daughter one Sunday morning and there was only one other child because it was such a beautiful, sunny day. I wasn’t too sure what she would make of it at her age but she loved it. I had to join in, of course, but she dressed up in every outfit and played in every section and was quite happy for some time. She cooked me lunch, made me buy every item in the shop 3 times over, operated on me and did my hair and loved every minute of it.

It was nice to talk her to a play area that wasn’t the standard soft play and is a perfect rainy day activity, especially handy it would seem these summer holidays as the weather is rather soggy!

There was a little boy there who looked to be younger than 2 and he was having a great time so I would say children from 2 to 6 or 7 would love the experience.

They don’t serve food and drinks but there is a cafe in the garden centre and a lovely looking pottery cafe right next door which serves lunches, ice cream, waffles and even baby food.

When the little one is all played out, the garden centre and shops are fantastic and the food shop is amazing, I could have bought my meals for the week already made there and then.

Good to know.

They operate a session timetable and you can book in advance.

Its £5.50 a child, £4.50 for second child and £4 thereafter.

There is a toilet and baby change facility.

You can’t take hot drinks inside for obvious reasons.

You can find it at

Stratford Garden Centre,
Campden Road,
Clifford Chambers,
Stratford-upon-Avon,
Warwickshire,
