Meek Mill really doesn’t like Bloggers

Wins & Losses

Exactly one week ago from today, Meek Mill dropped his third studio album “Wins & Losses.” It’s available on Spotify/Apple Music/etc, and if you haven’t listened to it yet, I highly recommend checking it out. There’s a handful of tracks with features from rappers like Young Thug, Quavo, Future, Rick Ross, and Lil Uzi Vert, to name a few. And there’s really just a lot of good songs on this album in general.

I was originally going to write about how good I think this Meek Mill album is, and how Meek’s music is always painfully under-appreciated because of his whole Twitter feud with Drake back in 2015. So in preparation for writing that blog, I relistened to all of “Wins & Losses” during my workout this morning. But as I was listening, something peculiar caught my ear. I noticed that I could distinctly hear Meek rapping about “blogs” or “bloggers” in a couple of songs on the album.

At first I thought I was imagining it all. Why would a rapper from the streets of Philadelphia ever talk about blogs or bloggers in his music? It just doesn’t seem like the type of thing that Meek Mill, or any rapper for that matter, would concern himself with. But as I kept listening, I noticed more and more every time I heard the word “blogger” mentioned in his songs.

So naturally, I did a little research on the lyrics of this album. And it turns out that there are 3 songs that mention blogs or blogging in the lyrics. The songs ‘1942 Flows,’ ‘Fall Thru,’ and ‘Made It from Nothing’ all mention blogging, and mostly in a negative light.

On ‘Fall Thru’ Meek shouts “ass all fat say she get it from her mama,
she just want the money, she ain’t fuckin’ with no bloggers.” Ouch.

On ‘1942 Flows’ Meek says that his rapping has got “bloggers in a frenzy.” This is technically true as evidenced by me writing this blog, but it’s still said with a pretty negative connotation :-(.

Thankfully on ‘Made It From Nothing,’ Teyana Taylor sings the line “diamonds on my neck, I’m blogging with the wrist,” which I guess is more or less a compliment for bloggers in comparison to the things said in the previous songs. I can live with this one.

The one thing that’s clear from these aforementioned lyrics, is that Meek Mill does not like bloggers. And a quick Google search for the words “meek mill bloggers” can quickly reveal why he feels the way he does.

Aha! Just what I suspected. It’s that godforsaken bitch Nicki Minaj at it again! Meek hates bloggers because he thinks ex-boo Nicki is paying them to talk shit on him. Classic women here, man. You can’t live with ’em, and you can’t live without ’em because once you start doing that, they’ll pay their bloggers to talk shit about you and your music.

It’s a tough world out there for Meek Mill, and despite all the negative blog talk in his music, this album is a step in the right direction for him. He may not have won back the respect of all the American hip-hop listeners out there just yet, but ditching Nicki and dropping a very good album is definitely a good start to winning back that much-deserved respect.

If you’re reading this, Meek, just know that all of us bloggers out there aren’t that bad. You’ve got yourself a blogger fan in me, and I hope you can eventually forgive the sins of a few bad, Nick-bribed bloggers.
