Be Careful Near Construction Sites — They Can Be Dangerous!

I recently read a story of a man only 24 years old being killed on a building site. People do not realize how dangerous these sites are.

Often the site managers’ training sessions are so brief.

But health and safety training is so important. But no one really takes the time to read it and pay full attention.

I remember attending a site for a site survey so I could sketch plans for them and compare work already completed to plans.

There were more than twice as many work-related deaths in construction than in any other industry in the last financial year, new figures reveal.

Stats from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) show that 45 building workers died on the job in 2022/23, up from 29 in 2021/22 and 39 in 2020/21.

The health and safety video for the site training was a five-minute video, and then I was left with a builder to walk around.

I remember the scaffolding was so low that I hit my head on it. I had a hard hat on, so no damage done.

So if you are ever around a building site, always, always be extra vigilant as they are definitely a hazard to the public and workers.
