Superb article on a very important and often overlooked topic as you say. White women are very much responsible, and we are taught (by way of being subservient to white men) from a young age that we are a voyeur not a participant to racism (ie. we couldn’t possibly DO anything racist, we don’t have any power!). It goes without saying that white men are racist, and that’s something that white women lean on I think. It’s like us Brits; when we talk about America we are so appalled, so quick to pass judgement and condemn America for all of the wrongdoings and tragedies of slavery, civil rights, police brutality and overall racism. We like to speak about how “much worse” America is than Britain, forgetting (or rather using our selective memories) the rape, theft & killings conducted across the world in the name of the crown and the turmoil that those countries continue to experience because of us. Not to mention the racism that is experienced by Black Brits. Our police just don’t have guns. Racism in America is more explicit and talked about; just as white male racism is more explicit than white female racism. Some would argue that the implicit is the most dangerous kind..
