Improved tagging, design updates, and performance improvements
Last two weeks was a lot of fun. We had some technical issues last Friday and had four hours of downtime as a result, but while we fix those issues, we came out stonger with much improved performance. Let me walk you through some of the latest updates.
1. Improved tagging system
Playlist and curator list have more well-defined tags now. Take genres. We have Christian/Gospel, Classical, Country, EDM/Electronic, Folk, Hip Hop/Rap, House, Jazz, etc. You can also pick countries such as Ireland, Jamica, or Sweden to filter out playlists and curators more relevent. Language filter can be powerful. We applied natural language processing to the playlist titles and descriptions, to categorize them into different language buckets. Try finding those playlists targeting French speaking people. It turns out that “Hits du Moment” curated by Spotify France is the most popular among them.

2. Artist genres and countries
Same filter for artist pages. Search by genres or countries. You may discover some jewels.

3. Design update
Playlist table have cleaner look, now that the playlist name, cover image, and curator name are combined into one, and position and number of songs are in one column. Less number of columns = less complexity. You still get the results in separate columns when you export the data to CSV.

4. Performance
You may notice improved performance when you click on an artist or playlist profile. Pages load 2x faster.
5. Custom timeline for charts
Want to look further than one month of data? Simply click one of the buttons — to see one month, three months, or 6 months worth of data.

5. Improved email report design
Your daily/weekly email report now looks prettier, and it also looks better on mobile phone. All of your favorite artists in one nice email, delivered to you.
