My Favorite Feature About macOS Sierra

It just makes life super awesome..

Yesterday Apple released macOS Sierra. Pretty exciting stuff if you love what apple produces. Sierra is like that update you didn’t know you needed but it makes everything work better.

Plus there are a ton of cool new little features. I’m sure thousands of people are writing about it and what they like and dislike, no hating going on in this post, just want to point out the one thing that is amazing.

They released a feature that allows you to unlock your mac with your apple watch!

It basically makes buying an Apple Watch totally worth it if you don’t have one already, and if you do, get ready for a game changer in life.

You wake your computer up and then just as soon as you see your profile the password box goes away and it says “unlocking with apple watch…” and then you are in!

Setting it up is a little bit tricky but not too bad. And I mean it makes sense right? You want to make sure it’s secure so people can’t get into your computer with another watch or something.

It uses your Apple ID and two-factor authentication to make it all work, and then the little wireless network between your watch and your computer to allow it to run.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Command + Space Bar and type “System Preferences”
  2. Select “Security & Privacy” (Top Row, 3rd from the right)
  3. Select General
  4. Look for the checkbox that says “Allow your Apple Watch to unlock you Mac”

If that setting doesn’t show up make sure you are near your computer with your watch on and unlocked on your wrist.

That should do it. Once that is clicked you might have to enable two-factor authentication, but after that step you should be good to go!

It’s awesome. Enjoy.

A single golf clap? Or a long standing ovation?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
