As with anyone placed in a position of tension and possible anxiety, Mr. Harvey should rightly be expected to avoid, at all cost, the emotional trauma he created. While certainly I would agree with the fact that many conditions existed that made his job more difficult, I nonetheless maintain that it is under those kinds of circumstances that true professionalism shines through. Regardless of the layout, the card clearly identifies “Runner Up”, and he could have exercised at his discretion a great deal more care to assure an accurate understanding; what was that large time gap before he uttered the word Columbia? There is more to this story with regard to his mis-reading.
