The White Jersey: Superstition or a Secret Weapon in the Superbowl?
Before you write off the Denver Broncos, lets remember that 10 of the past 11 Superbowl Champions have been crowned by the teams wearing the white jersey. Re-wind to the previous winners, there’s a couple coin flips in there where the games could go either way, but then how can we forget about the Patriots losing not just once but twice in the Superbowl? The unbeatable Indianapolis Colts getting upset in Miami against the Saints. The stout Niners defence that was out played by Joe Flacco and the Ravens, and who could forget last years dramatic and shocking finish with the Patriots Malcolm Butler picking off Russell Wilson, a QB who almost seemed unstoppable when the game was on the line.
Now this year there is a bit of a twist to this so called superstition; the Broncos were actually the ones who elected to wear their white uniforms. Usually the teams that have the option to choose, they end up going with the home jerseys. Also the Panthers have been wearing their road whites at home during their unstoppable playoffs thus far; could this be a possible mind game the Denver’s trying to play with Carolina? If the Broncos win and this home jersey curse continues, look for other teams to follow suit for the next couple years. Superbowl 50 takes place February 7th from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
