If you’re extremely attached to a specific outcome happening, it might be worth considering how you would feel or react if the complete opposite happened. I am all for positive thinking — sometimes we just need a gentle reminder that we’re not in control of everything.
Realizing your soulmate is not your best friend; you are. At the end of the day, you’re going to be the one you’re guaranteed to spend the rest of your life with. Knowing who you are outside of a relationship is the best gift you can give yourself. Being happy alone will be the real key to always enjoying life.
If you have been commuting to work in a state of semi-coma, then it’s time to change that. Make your commute to and from work a time to practice mindfulness. Pay attention to where you are, to the places you drive of walk by, to the people who sit next to you on the train. Practice feeling a sense of place, remind yourself of where you are in the universe. Practice being grateful for having a job to go to in the morning, and a home to come back to at the end of the day.
