The Best Advice I’ve Ever Gotten
Day 113
Well, it came from myself.
Self reflection when you’re content with your life is like an arrow, showing you what direction to head towards in life. There were many times when you were happy, perhaps childhood? Perhaps college? The beginnings of a young relationship? School? New Job? Sports team? Traveling?
Our perspectives of life are shaped by our moods (and vice versa).
When we’re happy, our perspective on life is limitless. The sky is beautiful. We can set anything our hearts desire. Everything will work out, and we will live the lives that we want.
When our minds are able to think beyond the barricades of traditional, dismal thought, we find opportunities that we wouldn’t have found. We make stretches that go beyond our comfort level, and we try. We aim for things.
I think writing daily is imperative.
I looked back at my travel blog today, I haven’t written in it since last year but the majority of my writings took place between 2015–2016, when I was traveling. I was so happy!
I looked back and felt so far from who that person was (in terms of growth), but in a good way.
I was in love with the world. I knew what I wanted to do and for my life to be like. Sometimes I forget and get wrapped up in my day to day stress, and it just feels so good to look back at the things I wrote during those moments.
There were truths I wrote then, that I forgot I wrote. It’s surprising how many recurring themes have coursed through to my life today. Deep down, we all know what we want from life, and when we get frustrated with our day to days, it’s nice to look back and remember why we got the ball rolling in the first place.
So start writing! If it’s a beautiful day, just go outside and write.
Side rant: I hate when people say, “I don’t know what to write”. No one knows what they want to write, just start writing the first words that pop into your head. There have been times where I started writing, “I don’t know what to write about so I’m just going to start typing, this feels really dumb but I guess I’ll do it. blah blah blah blah blah”
Anyone can write. It’ll come, don’t worry about it.
