Day 87 of 100.

Every once in a while, you have a moment of clarity where you realize this is exactly what you are supposed to be doing.

Today, was one of those days. I was chatting with a collaborator for the site, and we talked about ideas for shaping this article. We talked about him, and his personal life and our shared love for travel and by the end of the call- I felt fulfilled.

I thrive off the energy of other people. When I meet people who think similarly and have such a passion for the world and it’s beauty, it makes my heart sing.

I recall I had the same feeling when I spoke with Alexis, and Asori- two other creators I had spoken to for my blog a few years back. They were passionate people who were a photographer and director, respectively. It was because of the two of them, that my idea for WWW came to be and stop writing for my blog.

There’s something so beautiful about a creator. Someone who dedicates a large portion of their lives to building and sharing a piece of beauty with the world. I really appreciate that.

And so today, with out collaborator we spoke about the JANTE law of Copenhagen. A concept that is ingrained in the Scandinavian culture that teaches people that they are not better than anyone else. Being humble and egalitarian is what the philosophy perpetuates.

The concept, unlike in the US which pushes us to be independent, individualistic and to fiercely build our own successes is an acid trip compared to their tepid waters. According to the law, people seek a normal, humble life and are to allowed to think they are more special, better than anyone else.

Sometimes I wish that I could be ok with a normal life. But I don’t. I know that for the rest of my life, and for the past 8 years- I have had an incessant urge for more, for something beyond, for something larger than me as if I have a slowly churning firework set in my chest, waiting to explode.

I realize that there are two types of people. Creators and Jantes. Creators are not simply artists, writers or photographers- they are people who feel unfulfilled if they are not making something for themselves. If they don’t have control over something they build- they go stir crazy.

Jantes make up more of the society. They are the people who work and come home to sleep. They are happy with their jobs as long as they get to come home and sleep, and buy the things and love the comfort they enjoy.

They may be motivated, energetic and intelligent people, but they don’t have that inner burn. That desire, for more.

I have many friends who are Jantes, and to me when they tell me they are happy with that type of lifestyle, I simply cannot comprehend. I accept it, but I need more.

Thats why I enjoy being around creators. They get it. They understand why I work so hard. They do too. We don’t choose to, we have to. Everything else pales in comparison to the time you spend to your project. I guess to make something work, you have to be a little mad, and for sure I know I am. We know that if we don’t work hard, someone else will beat us to it, because in the past, we’ve had many people beat us before.

They’re the people who will always push you by being themselves or actually pushing you. There is no room for anyone to hold you back from chasing your ideas or letting you have an off day.

Today, after sharing my idea I’ve had a ton of great feedback, with many more collaborators asking to be a part of this. The more people who have written to me, the more confident I feel in making this a reality. Here’s to we were wanderers.

It’s been an idea in my head for a year and a half, and the name in my head for 6 years. Rock on and continue in. Which category are you?
