Where is the customer in Cannes?

You couldn’t have hit this more on the head. I’ve been working in advertising for the past 6 years and it’s a self aggrandizing industry with little regard for the diverse customer base. I don’t know many other industries that give talks about “the importance of diversity” that are manned by white males, or a less colorful makeup in agency staff. Yes, Adland needs to get back to basics, but they need to start hiring and incorporating more talented staff from diverse backgrounds and classes to implement those ideas and perspectives. I think the conversations are starting and slowly get better.
