Without dismissing the greater point (with which I entirely agree)— that shaming offensive individuals doesn’t affect structural change —this seems to be based on the premise that speech isn’t in itself harmful.

But aren’t there certain kinds of speech that perpetuate tropes or mores that have real world consequences? Isn’t there some value in making it socially unacceptable to (by default) doubt a woman’s report of sexual assault or link race to crime?
