The University of Chicago is the first place that made me feel safe
Yangyang Cheng

Great piece, and it made me realize just how suggestive language is — it’s hard to be opposed to something called “Safe Spaces”, and it triggers a very different reaction than “Politically Correct”. Shouldn’t college be the place where people can be exposed to new and different ideas, and learn to speak up and express themselves both effectively and respectfully? It seems to me that before large swaths of the academic establishment decide to muzzle an entire generation’s voice, they would at least consider researching the negative long-term psychological and social implications of that approach.
