Come Again? Orgasm privilege, casual sex, and female pleasure
Lauren Ingram

I’d actually posit that the combination of the ‘hook up culture’ and a ‘diet of pornography’ are directly responsible for women enjoying themselves far less. Your description of men’s attitudes towards their partners was very much the exception rather than the rule twenty years ago, and I’m saddened to think about how much harder it’s become for Millennial women to develop a healthy sense of themselves and men.

But I believe that the media bears at least as much responsibility, because the rampant hook-up culture accepted by most media outlets as fact simply isn’t supported by the data — every formal and informal survey shows that Millennials are actually having less sexual partners than either Gen X or Boomers did (with one survey of 33,000 Americans showing that by the age of 25 the average Boomer had 11 partners, Gen X had 10, and Millennials had 8).
