TV Review: Outcast
Really liked the first episode. Nice effects, good acting. What seemed a promising story arc has in subsequent episodes 2 through 4 veered more towards demonic possession or repossession of-the-week. There are still some continuing plot elements, but they’re more of an undertow.
I’m assuming the production has a limited budget, and they spent a lot on episode 1 and didn’t have enough for effects in the following 3 episodes. At this point I’m beginning to wonder if funds will only cover effects for the finale. A bit heavy on storytelling-by-flashbacks, the pace slowed way down after the first episode. The episode endings don’t make me wish I had the rest so I could binge them all.
